Cross & Flame

Circuit Rider Our church has a rich history dating back to the days of the California gold rush when miners would rest from their labors on Sunday and meet for worship in what is now Moragan Chapel on Wards Ferry Road. The preachers stationed there journeyed on horseback to Summersville to conduct weekly services. On September 28, 1902 faithful followers dedicated the Methodist Church in what would become Tuolumne. The original church was destroyed by fire on October 26, 1952. The church was rebuilt with community support and on September 29, 1957, members completed the final phase with a dedication of the belfry and steeple.
